Intertidal Intimacies explores the transformative role of kelp in reshaping perceptions of embodiment and ecological interconnectivity. Over six months, the artist engaged closely with seaweed along the Chilean coast, immersing in various kelp environments—from living with kelp farmers to diving in kelp forests and sailing across oceans. This project presents kelp as a key player in environmental stewardship through videos, handmade objects, audio, and storytelling. By intertwining personal experiences, scientific exploration, the installation invites viewers to rethink their roles within the natural world and advocates for a collaborative, intimate and transformative relationship with kelp ecosystems.

I decided to write you even though I don’t really know if you will or can read this
so I’m just gonna read it to you.
I wanted to say thank you again, I feel I never really told you what our time together meant to me.
it’s overwhelming still feels like you were with me
I mean, somehow you are
you definitely left so much with me,
simply the way you are, the way you approach or see the world open up so many unknown path for me.
I swam oceans to find you.
I sailed oceans to see you
I walked on the beaches to be with you
I made my bed next to you
I woke up every morning to search for you
I gave my body to ¥ou
And every time we touched
I loved you more
You lead me
to the right places
to the right people.
In darkness, you bring light
always bringing happiness to my life.
I learned what connection is
You allowed me to become part of your world and like this you changed mine
You showed me what letting go means
you showed me what resisting means
you have never ending endurance,
I learn to live in the moment, feeling the wind, the breeze the sea the sun
all the ingredients that bring you alive.
I came without an idea what to find.
I came without a plan or direction.
I came with open arms and minds.
to meet you.
To dive into your world.
To be carried by the waves
to meet you to really meet you.
I wasnt ready for this goodbye.
Here I am so far away from you already missing you.
Missing The sea, the sun, the easy-going the Rawness, your home.
It is incredible to see and realize every day how much you taught me
this is just slowly sinking in
I know I can always come back.
That you will always be with me
All these connections, its like a network, like routes, like a family, growing from the ground, they will keep growing
from the distance
inside me
inside everyone
even if you swim for a while float in the scary currents of the unknown
they will be new rocks to hold onto new rocks I get carried to.
